Abstract

Rad analizira najveći oružani sukob u povijesti, Drugi svjetski rat, te pokušava utvrditi kako je dostupnost odnosno nestašica nafte utjecala na vođenje rata, ratne ciljeve te na samo izbijanje rata. U radu je analizirano pet velikih zaraćenih sila: nacistička Njemačka, Sjedinjene Američke Države, Savez Sovjetskih Socijalističkih Republika, Japan i Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo; njihova proizvodnja nafte i naftnih derivata te njihove sposobnosti za dostavljanje naftnih derivata do prvih linija bojišta. Cilj rada je istražiti načine na koje je dostupnost, odnosno nestašica nafte odredila tijek Drugog svjetskog rata.

Abstract (english)

This thesis analyses the greatest armed conflict in history, the Second World War, and attempts to determine how its course, goals and even its start were influenced by possibility of petroleum supply, or lack thereof. The thesis analyses five greatest warring states at a time: Nazi Germany, United States of America, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Japan and the United Kingdom; their production of petroleum and petroleum derivatives, and their ability to deliver petroleum derivatives to the front line. The goal of this thesis is to provide insight into the methods by which petroleum availibility or shortage dictated the course of the Second World War.
