Abstract

Priobalno krško područje južno od Osora na otoku Cresu je jedinstveni krški okoliš sa nizom ponikvi. Te se ponikve nalaze na raznim hipsometrijskim visinama. Neke predstavljaju tipična krška polja, one bliže moru postale su slane močvare, a dio njih je u potpunosti potopljen uslijed podizanja morske razine tijekom zadnjih 11 000 godina (holocen). Istraživanje potopljenih ponikvi predstavlja jedinstven okoliš u kojem je moguće analizom slijeda sedimenta pratiti razvoj priobalja tijekom holocena u slijedu kopneno krško polje, priobalno slano jezero/intertajdalna ravnica te priobalna marinska sedimentacija.

Abstract (english)

Abstract: The mainland karst area south of Osor on the island of Cres is a unique karst environment with a series of sinkholes. These sinkholes are located at different hypsometric heights. Some of them are typical karst fields, those closer to the sea became salt marshes, and part of them were completely submerged due to rising sea levels over the past 11 000 years (Holocene). The research of the submerged sinkholes presents a unique environment in which, by sequence analysis of sediment, it is possible to monitor the development of the coastal area during the Holocene in the sequence of terrestrial karst field, a coastal saltwater lake/intertidal flats and coastal marine sedimentation.
