Abstract

Prisutnost vode u tlu predstavlja jedan od većih geotehničkih izazova. Bubrenje i stezanje tla izaziva dodatna opterećenja i deformacije, a samim time i poteškoće u izgradnji geotehničkih objekata. Kako bi geotehničko projektiranje bilo što sigurnije, potrebno je poznavati svojstva tla i parametre tečenja vode. Porozni materijali imaju sposobnost vezivanja i zadržavanja vode, a to se svojstvo zove usis (negativni tlak u pornoj vodi). U ovom radu objašnjen je pojam usisa. Cilj istraživanja bio je uspostaviti opremu za mjerenje karakteristične krivulje retencije vode metodom negativnog stupca vode. Zatim mjerenjima dobiti realnu sliku o vezi promjene volumena vode u uzorku i vrijednosti usisa kod nekoherentnih uzoraka tla. Rezultati su pokazali da je ovom metodom moguće dobiti realnu sliku o ponašanju iako je konstruirana aparatura pokazala i neke slabosti, posebno kada je riječ o fazi vlaženja.

Abstract (english)

Abstract: Presence of water in the soil is one of the largest geotechnical challenges. Swelling and shrinkage of the soil causes an additional load and deformation, and thus the difficulty in building geotechnical objects. How would geotechnical design be as safe as possible, it is necessary to know the properties of the soil and the parameters of the flow of water. Porous materials have the ability of absorption and water retention, and this property is called suction (negative pressure in the pore water). This thesis explains the concept of suction. The aim of this study was to establish the equipment for measuring the characteristic water retention curve by the negative water column method. Then measurements to get a realistic picture of the water content changes in the sample and the value of suction with coarse grained soils soil samples. The results showed that this method can get a realistic picture of the behavior even though it is designed apparatus shown some weaknesses, especially when it comes to the wetting phase.
